Safety & Emergency Preparedness
Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD) approaches safety with an overabundance of caution and while we have plans and processes in place to mitigate and manage emergency situations, please know that school safety is not something we can do alone. The partnership and support that we have with our local law enforcement and our school community is critical. In An Emergency, Dial 911.

Comprehensive School Safety Plan
The Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) is the district's roadmap for creating and maintaining safe, secure, and supportive learning environments. Developed in collaboration with school administrators, staff, law enforcement, fire services, emergency management, and community partners, the CSSP outlines procedures for preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies and other safety-related incidents.
The plan addresses a wide range of topics, including emergency response, evacuation procedures, reunification, behavioral threat assessment, violence prevention, campus security, communication protocols, and disaster preparedness. Each school reviews and updates its CSSP annually to ensure it reflects current laws, best practices, and the unique needs of its campus.
Our goal is to provide every scholar, employee, and visitor with a safe environment where learning and growth can thrive.

SAY SOMETHING SANDY HOOK PROMISE
Safety is everyone's responsibility. If you see something that concerns you, say something. Our Anonymous Reporting system provides students, staff, parents, and community members with a safe and confidential way to report safety concerns, suspicious activity, bullying, harassment, threats, weapons, vandalism, or other issues that may impact the safety and well-being of our school community.
Reports may be submitted at any time and can be made without providing your name. While every report is reviewed and assessed, providing as much detailed information as possible helps us respond appropriately and effectively.
If you believe there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911 immediately before submitting an anonymous report.
