Highlands Elementary School is a grade TK-5 school located southeast of Railroad Avenue and the CA-4 highway at Harbor Street and Buchanan Road. It is nestled within a single-family area and has open space to the west of campus. The campus consists of a one-story building with general education and kindergarten classrooms, a library, administrative office spaces, program support spaces, and a multipurpose room (MPR) with stage and kitchen. Eight portable classroom buildings were installed to further support the program needs for the campus.The current enrollment at the school for the 2024-25 school year is 480 students.
Many projects were completed with Measure P which was passed by Pittsburg voters in 2018. These projects include an HVAC replacement, window replacement and a TK restroom addition.
