Measure N is an $85 million school bond which will allow the district to build new classrooms at District schools to reduce overcrowding. Measure N funds will be used to continue the renovation and modernization of all district schools, providing students and teachers with comparable classrooms and facilities.

Measure N funds will be used to address the most critical renovation and modernization needs at the District’s schools. Measure N funds will be used to renovate, modernize and reconstruct these schools to provide all students with comparable classrooms. Funds will also be used for technology upgrades and the purchase and installation of modern security and surveillance systems.

 

None of the money would be used for the school administrator or teacher salaries. All of the money generated by Measure N would pay for school construction projects. The average yearly cost to property owners in the District would be $52 per $100,000 of assessed valuation (not market value).

 

Measure N contains strict accountability requirements. An Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee will monitor all Measure N funds. This committee will make sure that all bond funds are spent as planned for the benefit of local students. In addition, an annual audit will provide the community with a detailed list of how bond funds are used.

Construction costs cannot be paid for by lottery funds. State law (Government Code Section 8880.5) forbids the use of lottery funds for school construction.
