Parcel Tax Measures
On behalf of Pittsburg Unified School District's Board of Education, students, and staff, we would like to express our appreciation to the Pittsburg Community for supporting the 2008 Measure C Parcel Tax and 2016 Measure S Parcel Tax.
- Measure C expired on June 30, 2016. Measure C parcel tax funds were used to: "expand student access to technology and computers, college preparatory, honors and advanced placement classes, avoid increased class sizes, maintain essential programs and materials, keep classes small in the early grades, and attract and retain highly qualified teachers, shall the Pittsburg Unified School District levy an annual tax of $65 per taxable parcel for seven years, beginning July 1, 2009, with an annual inflation adjustment of $6, with citizen oversight and a senior citizen exemption."
- On July 27, 2018, a presentation about Measure C was given to the School Board and described in detail how the funds from the Measure C Parcel Tax were used by Pittsburg Unified School District over the last several years.
Measure S is a parcel tax that was approved by Pittsburg voters in November of 2016. Funds from the parcel tax will provide the School District with a reliable, local source of funds for art, music, and athletics. Measure S replaces the Measure C parcel tax approved by voters in 2008. Measure S will last for seven years and required a two-thirds voter approval for passage.
