What Is Workplace Violence?

What Is Workplace Violence?

Workplace violence is any act or threat of violence, harassment, intimidation, or other disruptive behavior that occurs in the workplace. It can range from verbal threats and bullying to physical assaults and other behaviors that create fear or compromise the safety and well-being of employees.

At Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD), the safety of our employees, scholars, families, volunteers, and visitors is a top priority. We take workplace violence seriously because everyone deserves to work and learn in an environment that is safe, respectful, and free from threats or intimidation.

PUSD is committed to preventing workplace violence through employee training, clear reporting procedures, timely investigation of concerns, and proactive safety measures. We encourage all employees to promptly report incidents, threats, or concerning behavior so they can be addressed before they escalate. By working together, we help foster a culture of safety, respect, and accountability throughout our district.
Workplace Violence Prevention Plan

Workplace Violence Prevention Plan

Pittsburg Unified School District is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Our Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) outlines the District's procedures for preventing, identifying, reporting, and responding to workplace violence, as required by California law.

The plan establishes roles and responsibilities, reporting procedures, employee training, incident response protocols, and processes for evaluating and improving workplace safety. By promoting awareness, encouraging timely reporting, and fostering a culture of safety, the WVPP helps protect employees and supports a positive work environment across all District facilities.

Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan and report any concerns or incidents promptly. Together, we can help maintain a safe, respectful, and secure workplace for everyone.
Employee Workplace Violence Reporting Form

Employee Workplace Violence Reporting Form

The Employee Workplace Violence Reporting Form provides employees with a way to report incidents, threats, or concerns involving workplace violence, intimidation, or other behaviors that may pose a risk to employee safety. Reports are reviewed in accordance with the District's Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) and applicable California law to help ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective action.

Employees are encouraged to report concerns as soon as possible. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911 first, then notify your supervisor or site administrator as soon as it is safe to do so.
