Volunteer Information

Become a fingerprinted volunteer at Pittsburg Unified through our Be a Mentor (BAM) parent volunteer application system!

We have partnered with BAM to manage volunteer clearances for all of our school sites.

The first step to gaining clearance is applying. The application link is www.beamentor.org/pittsburg

Enter your email address and click “continue.”
Select all the schools you would like to volunteer at.
Once you have entered all of your information, click SUBMIT.
Once your application has been accepted, you will receive an email prompting you to login at beamentor.org/login .
If you do not receive an email from BAM, please check your spam and junk folders. If you are having trouble, please send a message with your name and date of birth to help@beamentor.org so that they may assist you.

Once you login, you will see the requirements you need to complete.

The Fingerprint tab has the necessary live scan form and directions on where to take it. There is also a Livescan request attached to this post.
Please make an appointment at the Pittsburg Police Department to have your fingerprints rolled.
Fingerprinting clearance may take up to 30 days. If there are any issues, you will be contacted via email.
The TB risk assessment form can be found under TB screening. All TB documents can be uploaded using the Upload Document button.
Please allow up to 1-2 business day for documents to be reviewed. If there are any issues, you will be contacted via email.
If you were previously cleared with fingerprints and TB, you will not have to repeat them. You can call the BAM Support Desk at (510) 795-6488, extension 0. They have a list of cleared volunteers, so they will be able to mark your fingerprint requirement as complete. You can email BAM at: help@beamentor.org

To have your fingerprints rolled by the PIttsburg Police Department, please note:

We do not charge a rolling fee for PUSD volunteers (the PD covers that cost for PUSD out of our own budget).
The Pittsburg Police Department offers Livescan fingerprint service by appointment only Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, (closed for City observed holidays).
Applicants will need to contact the Police Department Records Division to schedule an appointment (925) 252-4980 (follow the prompts to speak with someone in Records).
Per the California Department of Justice, the accepted forms of identification are as follows: a state issued ID card, driver’s license, or a United States passport, or a combination of two of the following: state government issued birth certificate, US tribal ID card, social security card, court order for name change/gender change/adoption/divorce, US government issued Consular Report of Birth Abroad, foreign passport with appropriate immigration documents, certificate of citizenship, certificate of naturalization, resident alien card, temporary resident ID card (INS I-688), or employment authorization card (INS I-688B).
