Art at Black Diamond is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and techniques of visual arts while fostering creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking. Through a variety of hands-on projects and activities, students will explore different mediums such as drawing, painting, and mixed media. Students will learn basic principles of design including composition, color theory, form, and perspective. They will also explore art history and the works of various artists to gain inspiration and insight into different movements/periods. Throughout the course, students will develop their artistic skills through experimentation and practice. They will be encouraged to express their ideas and emotions through their artwork and to reflect on the meanings and messages conveyed through visual expression. By the end of each quarter, students will have developed a small portfolio of their artwork showcasing their growth and creativity. This course aims to instill a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts and provide students with a solid foundation for further exploration in the field.
